FCF 2024 Trace - Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship - January 12th - 14th

Come Join a Group of Men on the Adventure back into the 1700-1800's. Old time camping and fellowship around a fire with many Christ Like Servants. Come Join the Adventure for boys becoming Men and also for Men.

Any men going up for Wilderness will need to be a day earlier.

Check-In: Begins Friday, January 12, 2024, and we will be leaving around noon on Sunday, January 14, 2024

Trace: Members may begin arriving Friday to set up your camps. We will have a council fire and fellowship for those not participating in the Frontier Adventure. Saturday morning, there will be testing for Frontier Adventure and Buckskin candidates. The competitions will begin after lunch. We will be doing our Archery Walk on Saturday after regular competitions, followed by the cooking competition and communal meal. We will end the night with a council fire service and graduation ceremony. Sunday will be a church service, business meeting, and awards ceremony followed by benediction.

Scout Testing: This year we will be testing for both our Chapter Scout and Assistant Scout. Please print and bring your completed FCF Scout Application/Packet with you and turn it in with your registration.

Frontier Adventure: We will be holding a Frontier Adventure during Trace. Please see the Frontier Adventure (page 4) for more details.

Buckskin Testing: The testing will run from 8:00AM to Lunch. If you are going through or helping with Buckskin Testing (Wilderness & Buckskin Members Only can help, others can be at camp), please arrive by 7:00 AM Saturday. If you plan to test, please contact Mike “Papa Bear'' King ASAP for more registration information.

Wilderness Vigil: Wilderness testing will start at 1:00 PM Thursday and end Friday morning. If you are going through or helping with Wilderness Testing (Wilderness Members Only can help, others can set up camp), please arrive by 11:00 AM Thursday January 12, 2024. Candidates for Wilderness will have their Thursday evening meal ingredients provided for them. Please ensure you are on time, or you may be disqualified for testing. If you plan to test, please contact Bryan “Buck Tracker'' Boudreaux ASAP for more registration information.

Meals: The following meals will be provided for all Trace participants: Friday supper, Saturday breakfast and lunch, Sunday breakfast. Saturday supper will be a communal meal/cooking competition. The competition scoring sheet will be posted online before Trace.

Frontier Adventure: Candidates will be provided with breakfast and lunch on Saturday. They will need to eat before arriving at the campground Friday night.

Fees

There are two categories - Young Bucks - Boys and Older Timers - Men

Trace Fee: This covers the costs of attending Trace including campground, competition, etc. (The General Camp)

● Young Bucks: $45

● Old Timers: $50

Annual Dues: This is used to allow us to support missionaries and upkeep our chapter’s assets. (Dues run the fiscal year Sept-Aug).

● Young Bucks: $0

● Old Timers: $35 (Not needed if you are doing Frontier Adventure and Joining)

Frontier Adventure: This covers all costs included in the Frontier Adventure and includes the candidate’s first year’s dues.

(Only needed if you are joining and becoming a Frontiersman.)

● Young Bucks: $40

● Old Timers: $50

Buckskin Testing: This covers the costs of materials for buckskin testing.

(Only needed if you are going up for Buckskin Rank.)

● Young Bucks: $25

● Old Timers: $25

Example: You are new and Joining FCF, you would pay the Trace fee and the Frontier Adventure Fee and that is all for a person/individual.

You are returning - you would pay your Trace fee and Dues, or Trace fee and Testing fees if you are doing Testing.

Equipment

Remember that we are camping outdoors in January in Louisiana! We could have moderately cool, sunny, rainy, very cold, sleet, snow, or any combination! Be READY for any weather situation!

FCF Outfit – required for FCF Buckskin and Wilderness members - includes tomahawk, choker, pouch, etc.

If you do not have an FCF Outfit, the uniform is weather appropriate clothing for the campout. The Royal Rangers uniform or vest will not be needed, so do not bring them. The non-FCF clothing is jeans or long pants, long underwear, sweatshirts, T-shirts, coats, warm headgear, woolen cap, wool socks, warm boots or other comfortable warm footwear, raincoat and rain boots, and any other outdoor winter clothing. An extra pair of shoes is encouraged. Remember to layer your clothing as it may be warmer during the day and very cold at night.

Bring a towel and washcloth. Showers at the Royal Rangers Resource Center are available. Bring several changes of underwear and extra socks. Bring toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.).

Medicines for Boys – Local Outpost leaders will be responsible for them. Put in Ziploc bag with instructions. Label the bag with the boy’s name on it.

Sleeping Equipment: Bring sleeping gear suitable for the temperature we will encounter. Summer weight sleeping bags are not enough by themselves. Bring several wool or acrylic blankets as well in case the temperature drops below freezing. Army Surplus wool blankets work great. If you do not have a cot, a sleeping matt is recommended.

Frontier Adventure Candidates

It is with great joy that we welcome you to the Frontier Adventure, the first step towards a lifetime that is Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship! We sincerely hope and pray that this will be the start of a great Godly adventure in your life. FCF embodies the Servant Leadership you have been learning about in Royal Rangers. The FCF Frontier Adventure is the only time each year that new candidates who have completed the requirements for membership are brought into the Frontiersman Camping Fellowship.

Your Frontier Adventure will start at 7:00PM on Friday January 12, 2024, at the Twin Lakes Campground in Woodworth, LA. To attend the Frontier Adventure, you must complete the requirements for joining Frontiersman Camping Fellowship:

Boys (under 18) Only

● Earn the following required skill merits:

o Camping

o First Aid Skills or First Aid/CPR

● Graduate of the fifth grade and 11 years old.

● Be an active member of your local chartered outpost.

Leaders (Over 18) Only

● Complete the Ready and Safety Levels of the OLAL

● Be an active member of your local chartered outpost.

● Be a member in good standing in your church.

Boys and Leaders

● Complete a Frontier Adventure.

Equipment List: sleeping bag, cot, extra blankets, sharp pocket knife, pencil or pen, notebook (8" x 5-1/2"), New Testament or full Bible, 2 candy bars, and 1 can of beans. You will be staying in the Chapter tents on Friday night.
